Sussex Masonic Shooting Sports Association
Many Sussex masons participate in a wide range of shooting sports; in particular clay pigeon competitions. In the local area this is supplemented by the many pheasant shoots and, of course in Chichester harbour, wildfowling.
Informal clay shoots provide an opportunity for non masons as well as members to meet and get to know each other, united by a common interest in shooting.
In other provinces specific shooting sports lodges have been formed, it is hoped that as interest builds in Chichester this will be the case here.
Currently informal clay pigeon shoots are being held on a regular basis at Southdown Gun Club, usually on the morning of the first Wednesday in the month. This is conveniently located just north of Worthing near Findon and is right in the heart of the South Downs.
The dates can be found on the website www.smssa.org.uk
Both masons and friends who are not masons are welcome to join in provided you have a shotgun license, if not an introductory session can be arranged.
